Description

The ZWSTAT most commonly pairs directly with Honeywell Alarm Systems that speak Z-Wave, like the Lynx Touch series (L5100-ZWAVE module required), Lyric Controller, and even traditional VISTA Panels as long as they have a Tuxedo Touch WIFI or VAM. However, this smart thermostat is not limited to just Honeywell Panels. The beauty of Z-Wave technology is that it is brand-friendly. It will integrate smoothly with almost any Z-Wave controller, including those integrated in other alarm system brands and panels, like the Qolsys IQ Panels and 2GIG GC3. By enrolling locally with a Honeywell System, you can setup remote access using the Total Connect 2.0 App. If you happen to have an Alarm.com based system, you can add remote access through the Alarm.com App. Check with your monitoring provider to verify how many thermostats each panel and service will support. Most of them will support at least 3 per account.

When it is time to clean and change your air filters and humidifier/dehumidifier filters and pads, the ZWSTAT will alert you so you can make sure your HVAC system is running at peak performance and conserving as much energy as possible. The ZWSTAT will automatically change between heating and cooling based on your home’s temperature so that you do not have to manually change the thermostat temperature as the ambient temperature changes. Finally, the air circulation feature will move air throughout your home or business anytime your air conditioner or heater is not in use to save energy and prevent hot and cold spots.

All of the ZWSTAT features are easily selectable using the menu-driven touchscreen. The programming menus guide you through the various features and allow you to customize your thermostat for your unique schedules. There is also a real-time clock that will keep its programmed time even during a power outage.

Note: The Honeywell T6 Pro Z-Wave is a much newer and more advanced Z-Wave thermostat that can operate on battery mode (no common power). This option is highly recommended over the older style ZWSTAT. Download font helvetica bold for android.

Honeywell T6 Pro Z Wave Thermostat Manual

Love the savings!!
Submitted on04/15/2013Jill C.

I recently bought a Honeywell ZWSTAT and thanks to the techs at Alarm Grid I finally have it properly configured. Now my electrical bill has been cut in HALF because my a/c no longer runs when my husband and I are at work.

This thing will have paid for my entire alarm system by the end of summer. Then it's like my alarm system is paying me!! Who else can claim that??

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes I agree. You could have excluded it from the Lyric panel as well. It really does not matter which device you do it from as it can be done from any device that supports Z-wave.
I knew that Ciara I was looking for the Exclude function on the Lyric, and it's right where Dylan started me, and clearly shown on Page 35 of the User Reference Guide. I had only searched the Install and Programming guides! :pFor posterity: From the Home screen on the Lyric, touch 'Automation'From the Switches, Thermostats etc screen touch 'Down Arrow'Touch 'Tools'Touch 'Exclude Devices'Get a dialog 'Ready to Exclude device. Press the function button on device.' with spinning iconGo to ZWSTAT and Installer mode selet rF10 and down-arrowI'm sure this would have worked for me vs. getting the old 7000 to do it instead!
You will need to find the function button on the ZWSTAT (https://www.alarmgrid.com/documents/honeywell-zwstat-install-guide)
Step 1 says '..activate the exclusion function on the Z-Wave controller. This process will vary depending upon different types of Z-Wave controllers. Follow the steps in its instruction manual to put the controller into exclusion mode.' I have searched the Lyric Installation and Programming guides and can see no way to do this so I'd appreciate if you could clarify so we can put this one to bed!
Step 1 on this FAQ will explain how to exclude the device: https://www.alarmgrid.com/faq/how-do-i-include-the-honeywell-t6-z-wave-thermostat-with-a-z-wav Even though it is not the same device the process is similiar there should be a function device on your ZWSTAT(refer to manual) that needs to be pressed when doing the exclusion.
I am not sure about that Ciara; I could only Exclude (delete) my ZWSTATs using my L7000 because they *appeared* under Automation--I could select them and then Exclude them. How could I have Excluded them on my new Lyric when they didn't appear anywhere? My Lyric is now programmed with the tstats so I'm going by memory, but I think just like my L7000 is now, now that I've deleted the two ZWSTATs, there is nothing to select therefore nothing to Exclude!?
No, you would not need to get new Z-wave tstats, you can exclude/include from the new controller, it does not have to be done on the controller that first had them enrolled.
That worked Dylan, thanks, though I wonder how I might have recovered the ZWSTAT capability of the tstats without having to get the L7000 to work again? What if the L7000 had simply died--throw-away the tstats cuz ZWave capability is lost? Or can you actually use ANY ZWave controller to do this i.e. could I simply have gone to the Lyric and Exclude devices?
What I suggest is using the L7000 to perform an exclusion of the tstats. You can do so by going to automation > down arrow > tools. The exclusion is similar to the process of an inclusion, but will 'free up' the signal from the device so it can be learned elsewhere.
I replaced my Lynx 7000 panel with the Lyric LCP500 without touching my two ZWSTATs, and now they will not connect to the Lyric. When I go into Settings for either of the 8320 ZWSTATs, the key setting rF10 is set to 1, with a numeral above (2 on one and 3 on the other). If I hit the down arrow to try to un-set the thing back to 0, so I might then set to 1 again and link to my Lyric, it doesn't work--I just get 'Action failed' and it still reads 1 and 2 or 1 and 3. What might it take to get my ZWSTATs to forget the 7000 and start anew with my Lyric?

Honeywell Z Wave Thermostat Manual

Yes, they should be compatible. The GC-TBZ48 does state that it is compatible with most Z-Wave controllers.
Hi, I purchased a GoControl GC-TBZ48L thermostat and want to use it with my Honeywell Lynx L5100 security panel that has an L5100 zwave module in it. Are they compatible?? all I want to get through the zwave is the current tempurature in my basement, the thermostat will not be hooked up to my heating and cooling system. thanks for any help. Jack
Currently the Tuxedo cannot support this type of set up, however there is a possibility Honeywell will be releasing a firmware update in the future that allows this.
Have installed a Vista 21 iP with Tuxedo touch and 8 ZWSTAT Thermostats. Apparently no way to program the system to associate with a zone to automatically turn off IF a contact/zone is open after a set amount of time, like 3 minutes. Example. Have either a 5816 or 5800 Mini Contact on every sliding door that I want to associate with this scene, set up as a Configurable Zone Type, set to delay 3 minutes yet when the contact is open the associated Thermostat powers off immediately without delay as if it does not recognize the delay.Any advice or guidance?
The VAM technically supports 232 Z-Wave devices but we wouldn't suggest using that many. I wouldn't think any home or business needs more than a handful of ZWSTATa though so you shouldn't have any issues using multiple thermostats with the VAM.Are you using the system with Total Connect 2.0 though because if so, only three thermostats can be integrated into the TC2 service?
I am installing a VAM on a vista20p. Is there a limit to the number of ZWSTAT you can put onto the system?
No, that model thermostat is WIFI, not Z-Wave so you can't integrate it with the panel but if you create a Total Connect Comfort account (which is free) for the thermostat, you can integrate that account into the Automation section of your Total Connect 2.0 account so that you have access to that thermostat from your TC2 account (you'll still have access to the thermostat from TCC).
I have the Lynx Touch 7000, I just purchased and installed the Honeywell RTH9580 thermostat. Can this thermostat sync with my z-wave in my security system?

Honeywell Z Wave Thermostat Manual

It will, once it is set up through Total Connect 2.0. You can't integrate it without Total Connect 2.0.
Which WIFI smart thermostat? Lyric Round Thermostat? Like this one: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lyric-thermostatThe Lyric Round will integrate directly with the Lyric Controller: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lyric-controller
The Honeywell WIFI Total Connect Comfort or Red Link thermostats will not work directly on either panel. They can be integrated into Total Connect 2.0 via iOS device, if Automation is enabled on the Total Connect 2.0 account. This will allow you to manually control the thermostat thought the TC2 app.
For the L5200, the Honeywell ZWSTAT is recommended. The ultimate solution for thermostat integration requires the Lyric Controller: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lyric-controller. With this panel I would recommend the Honeywell Lyric Round: https://www.alarmgrid.com/products/honeywell-lyric-thermostat. This is WIFI based and supports aspects of Alexa and Apple Home Kit technologies.
i currently have the lynx 5200 ith both zwave and wifi cards. i would like your oppinon on what thremostat to add zwave or wifi . as soon as i know what perfered i will sign up with total connect
..so does that mean that the Honeywell WiFi Smart Thermostat will not work with the total connect or the lyric home security system? I was wanting to buy the WiFi Smart Thermostat but want it all to work on the same system.
Honeywell
Hi Justin, at this time it's sort of a trade off between integration / less thermostat control and better thermostat but separate control. We don't know when Honeywell will come out with a more advanced Z-WAVE thermostat but we will certainly offer it once they do!
Do you know if Honeywell is planning on updating the ZWSTAT? I haven't yet added the TuxedoTouch or any ZWAVE devices to my alarm, but I plan on it in the near future. I've noticed that Honeywell is making some new thermostats that are WiFi enabled, but seem to work via their own internet connection over regular WiFi rather than ZWAVE. (WiFi 9000 models, Prestige sytem, etc..) These thermostats have a much nicer display and interface than the ZWSTAT, which appears dated. But having the whole system integrated would be nice.
